Review of the Intranet System introupe by mobile broadband reviews
Introduction
The Intranet system introupe was designed and developed - in its original incarnation, known as "SchoolNET" - by a secondary school in the United Kingdom, for use in secondary, and primary schools. Its aim was to centralise management and administration functions - which had previously been largely paper-based - within a school, and to make internal online teaching materials readily available to members of staff. The system was acquired by ANB Software Limited, in 2007, and underwent significant improvements in terms of reliability and speed. The "SchoolNET" name was dropped, in favour of "introupe", to differentiate the system from other products of the same name, and because many of the system modules were found to be equally applicable to small businesses as to schools.
introupe Features, Benefits & Considerations
introupe is constructed around three "core" modules, a so-called CMS, or "Content Management System", module, a News & Announcements module, and a Calendar module. The latter two modules are fairly self-explanatory in any school or business context, allowing news, announcements and details of upcoming events to be delivered across an organisation via an Intranet, rather than paper. The CMS module is more sophisticated, and potentially more useful, allowing documents and files - whether they be teaching, or revision, materials within a school, or corporate procedures, training materials, etc. - to be uploaded. There is no limit to the number of categories or pages that can be created and, from a security point of view, access - read, write, or both - can be restricted on a user by user basis.
Above and beyond the core modules, there are a number of additional modules, most of which share at least a degree of commonality between school and business operations. The IT HelpDesk module, for example, allows all outstanding problems relating to IT to be recorded and managed from a single point. A ticket, or job, can be created for each new problem, and prioritised so that technical support staff can see at a glance where their efforts should be concentrated. An historical list of all jobs - rather than just those currently outstanding - allows recurring problems to be identified.
The IT HelpDesk module can be used in conjunction with the IT Inventory module to keep track of not only IT problems, but also the physical specification, location, etc. of every piece of IT equipment within a school or business. Computer consumables - printer cartridges, etc. - can also be managed using the IT Inventory module.
The Premises HelpDesk module similarly provides a central point of reference for caretakers, or Healthy & Safety personnel, etc., with the facility to report issues and problems with buildings, vandalism, etc, across an organisation.
As corporate Intranet systems become increasingly popular, and the possibilities of remote working increasingly viable, many companies will be looking at introupe - and mobile broadband reviews - to make their staff as productive as possible.
